My training in counselling and psychotherapy is eclectic and draws on various theories and techniques including Psychodynamic, Person Centered, CBT, Schema therapy, NLP, Existential, Gestalt therapy, and Family therapy, Interpersonal therapy, and Focusing.

What is important to me is what matters to my clients. The techniques or modalities are secondary to my clients needs at every single session. My aim is to see and hear the person I'm working with, rather than trying to make a person fit into a model of therapy. Together with my background in natural therapies, I can offer a well grounded, holistic approach to most issues.

I am working with change and I see my role as a therapist being to facilitate a change process. I do this in a collaborative fashion together with my clients where we explore areas of non-contentment. I therefore seek a balance between being open and non-directive with being psychoeducational and experiential.

In my practice I see both adults and adolescents. I am working with issues including; depression and anxiety, anxiety disorders, worry, grief, trauma, eating disorders, anger management, childhood abuse. Teenage issues including stress, family breakdown, self image and self esteem problems, sexuality and sexual identity, addiction.

Individual therapy may involve work concerning current crisis or problems, or deal with long term issues. It may concern feelings of depression and/or anxiety; grief and loss; or look at present problems related to your family of origin. It is a journey of self discovery.

Relationship or couples Counselling / Therapy - Life takes us through many changes and transitions that may inmpact on our relationships. To work through relationship problems can be very satisfying . Find new ways of communicating and find out the particular dynamic that makes your relationship. Couples work is not only for couples in crisis, but for everyone that wants to improve a relationship. Relationship counselling may also be about creating a healther separation and to deal with the grief.

Group Therapy / Counselling- to join an existential experiential therapy group may be the most fulfilling experience of your life. In a safe environment you may learn to disclose hidden aspects of yourself, learn to receive support from others, find out what others see in you that you are unaware of, and to see that many of your issues are shared by many. This is a fun and emotionally intense journey that explores the most fundamental issues of life such as loneliness, isolation, and our fear of facing things that must come to an end.

Family Therapy / Counselling - sometimes individuals are best understood within the context of their entire family system. In family therapy the interaction between family members are assessed. The way family members interact and some rules may run through several generations. Exploring the family dynamic can help change the context, increase understanding, and improve communication.

I apply a strict code of confidentiality in all matters disclosed in a session. There are some exceptions to this rule; in certain circumstances information may be subpoenad by a court of law. Some information may be shared with my supervisor. Supervision is a requirement for therapists as an ongoing development process and is there to support clients. Supervisors are likewise under strict confidentiality agreements. I am also under obligation to report to relevant authorities if I suspect or know there is risk of harm to a child. Should risk of harm to an adult, yourself or others become evident there may be reason to report. However, no reports are made without your knowledge.
